We LOVE this plate!
Measuring a generous 12 inches (30cms) in diameter it will give impact to any wall.
We think it is from the 1960s and possibly Japanese but no expert has been able to read the squiggly mark on the back (see photo). Can you? If so please let us know!
It is heavy – some sort of stoneware we suppose and has no chips or cracks – but please be aware that the glaze is somewhat crazed. This does not detract from its innate charm. Conveniently the potter has made a hole in the rim at the back so it is easy to hang on the wall.
And as for what it shows??? Cacti? Trees? Freshwater hydrozoa? … Your guess is as good as ours…
