18th or 19th Century Ale Glass
We have no reason to suspect that this is not
the genuine article. Plain
and elegant in old looking glass (the odd bubble here and there) it is 7.5
inches high (19cms), 2 inches (5cms) across the bowl, just over 2.5 inches
(6.5cms) across the base.
It is well
balanced and feels nice! There
is no sign of a pontil mark (see photo of base) – but after 1800 they usually
ground these out didn’t they? And there are signs of wear on the base – a
good sign.
This is nice
plain glass with no damage.
