The ultimate cast off – a genuine sloughed-off snakeskin,
40 or so glorious inches of it. Lovely!
All this and a promise that its original owner will not return to claim it.
Come scaly snake its time to slough
Your skin it just ain’t big enough
Cast off the itchy, old and rough
And grow a nice smooth shiny new one.
(Apologies to John Betjeman)
Okay we know it isn’t great – if you are so clever, write us a better one.
For pedants: we have found the following definitions for the word slough:
· gangrene: necrotic tissue; a mortified or gangrenous part or mass
· a hollow filled with mud
· a stagnant swamp
· any outer covering that can be shed or cast off
· shed: cast off hair, skin, horn, or feathers.
· a town in Berkshire in the south of England.
Length approx 40 inches (that is the snakeskin – not the town)
Condition – used – end of tail detached – the odd tear here and there – well what do you expect for goodness sake – this is Cybergrot.com.
Since writing the above the condition of this has deteriorated somewhat... we have reduced the price accordingly.
Er it has now disintegrated completely and is no longer for sale..... so you have missed your chance - your fault entirely.
