This brooch nearly had us fooled…… so we took it off to A EXPERT who told us that NO it is NOT the real thing……….
It is almost certainly made of silver but it has no hall-marks – presumably indicating that it was made abroad. Therefore we call it ‘white metal’ and the ‘rocks’ are not real diamonds but merely crystal. Sigh!
Still comfort yourself with this thought… the best thing about roses is the colour (this brooch has virtually none) and scent (this brooch has no scent at all) which makes us wonder what on earth the silversmith who made it was thinking of! Daft or what?
