This
very, very old tin was sold by John Buchanan and Bros Ltd, probably around 1900.
They were makers of confectionary, chocolates, jams & jellies and “delicious
homemade marmalade”. This of course implies
that the confectionary chocolates, jams & jellies were neither delicious
nor home-made – just the marmalade. Well there we go…. They were to be found in Stewart Street,
Cowcaddens, Glasgow.
What
was in this tin we know not – all that is left is spots of rust and the odd
dead beetle.

The
charming disc atop rotates (well just) – and was part of some mysterious ZOO
game – the rules of which are on the back but so seriously worn that they are
now illegible – in keeping with the rest of the tin one might say.
Very
old, very worn, chipped, bent, rusty and a must for the serious collector…
